Our School

Hugo Treffner Gymnasium is historically a very important school in Estonia. The schoolhouse has retained its historic aura that can be felt while walking around in the building. The school itself was considerably rebuilt and modernized during major repairs after fire broke out in November 1998. In the course of extensive restoration work the majority of original details have been successfully preserved, e.g. wooden ceiling beams in the common room or ceiling paintings in one of the ground floor classrooms. We have many traditions, some of which lead back to the founding of HTG. For example, our school has an annual ball, spring picnic, christmas party and teachers’ day celebrations. Our school also has several extracurricular activities such as our mixed choir ANIMA, School newspaper Miilang, that has been published since 1925, sports club, dance group TANTSUTALLAD and drama clubs. The students treat Hugo Treffner Gymnasium as a second home and everyone can agree that the pleasant environment helps to learn effectively.
